K so this is my third year playing golf. I am 15 years old and my handicap is about 10 (i shoot low-mid 80s)

I am looking to get some new irons next year. I hit the AP1 at Golf town and it says I was hitting the six iron (81 mph swing speed with a 6 iron) 190 yards. If the system is not juiced then thats awesome but I doubt it. I haven't had a chance to hit the AP2 yet. The reason why I am writing this is because I don't want my swing to go to hell if I just keep using game improvement irons like the AP1 and my current irons. Can anyone say if the AP1 or AP2 would be better for me since I am improving quickly. I like to have some forgiveness in an iron but I don't want me to neglect my swing since I do get out quite a bit.

I tend to suggest Players' Irons to anyone who wants to practice, whether they're a 3 or a 30. So take that as salt when reading my advice.

First, I suspect the system is slightly juiced, or at least dialed in for a driver and not irons.

Second, if it's remotely right, you don't need the distance assistance from extra loft and cavity; you'd do better with the control that a players' iron offers. And it will help your swing in the long term to have the feedback, and to be able to hit the sweet spot, something you're quite capable of doing (either that, or you have a dynamite short game).

You don't need to worry about losing your swing with GI irons. If you are worried about it, just throw some impact tape on the face and hit the range. Rocco Mediate uses GI irons and he is a great golfer. He uses Callaway X-22's.

It really depends on how much you and your parents want to spend on new clubs.

I would agree, good swings produce good results, regardless of the clubs you use.

Don't worry about using the GI iron. Alot of GI's are listed as "players irons". I would shy away from the super game improvement irons, the ones with alot of offset and wide sole/top lines, but a "players" GI would be fine. I do agree that using a blade or muscle back will make a better golfer in the long run. Most people, like myself,(even most pros) will always shoot lower scores using a cavity backed iron. I made the choice to use muscle backs anyway, and my ball striking has really improved alot, mostly due to the more dramatic feedback on mis hits. Next season, or maybe the year after, I will be switching back to some type of players cavity and I hope to see my hcp drop. I give up quite a few shots per round missing greens and that sort of thing, but I believe I will be a better golfer for it when I make the switch. Good luck.
