I've been playing for about 15 years but have never seen my swing on video until recently. Boy is it ugly.

I never knew the club was getting so shut in the beginning of my backswing.

Can someone please give me some tips or drills to correct this? It looks like I need to get flatter at the top.

I have someone who kind of works with me on my swing and he thinks my posture at setup is not good. Any second opinions on my setup?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Set-up doesn't look bad at all to me. One thing I noticed is something that I did before working with my current instructor - you don't wrist hinge early enough..wrist hinge at about your belt buckle (hard to describe)..

If you see Appleby's swing, he wrist hinges early...I'd suggest doing this as well.

My biggest suggestion is to turn it into the Swing Check guys here at The Sand Trap. They know more about the Golf Swing than I do.

Looks a little bit like Jim Furyk's swing to me but having a slightly unorthadox swing never hurt him did it?

    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
