Well i've had my carbon composit driver for a few weeks now and I though I'd like to give some feedback to the forum. First off I really like how I hit this driver, I previously left my driver at home because I had such a problem hitting it. The problem(s) with the driver are related to quality, and now I see why it was on special for $99. The first problem I had was with the finish, the epoxy type top coat seems to flake off quite easily. The second problem was that the epoxy on the shaft wasn't properly bound and I had to get it re-glued, it started loosening up after a few rounds, and trips to the range. The third problem may not be related to the quality of the club, but I have a strange "dent" on the driver, and I am not sure if it from some impact driving around in the cart, my trunk or from striking a ball on the heel with a bad swing. All in all i'm happy with the driver since I don't care too much about how it looks if I hit is long and straight, but some people may be turned off by the finish problem. I had 1" chopped off the shaft (down to 44") per some suggestions I read, hope it improves my driving even more.

... Sorry you're having a problem .... but Carbon tops (*all manufacturers*) have a tendency to scar if you get underneath them enough -- I know from personal experience ..l.o.l...

It seems the "early" technology and the early runs had a tendency to flake across the entire golf market. The good news.? - Tour Edge has a lifetime warranty .. if you call them and get a RA#, you can send it back now, or send it back in 5 months when the weather is cooler and they will replace it with a brand new head .... in my case, I played it for 3 months and waited til' November to send it back last year and they sent me a a whole new driver ... I just had to regrip it with the Winn I prefer. ----
Whats in the bag.?

Driver: Tour Edge 10* Jmax 460 Carbon with the Fuji Vista Pro 50 shaft/and, the Burrows 10.5* MAC 421cc with the Grafalloy Pro Launch 55 shaft.
Woods: only one left after switching to hybrids - Adams ST #7 22*.
Hybrids: Tour Edge 20*, 24*, 30*, 36*, 41* and the 50* Attack Wedge...

Oddly it flakes on the rear edge as well. The ball flight is good still though. I'm going to get contacts today so I can start to see where my drives land.

  • 1 month later...
Ok, after about a month of 3-4 rounds a week I love this driver. It looks like shit with the flaking but do looks matter when I can drive 80% playable around 260 yards? I was driving right with the B player in our scramble this thursday, and blew the C player out of the water. I have had an off day or two with it, but for the most part this club has my confidence over any other in my bag right now. Best $99 I've spent this year, and I think having it cut to 44" has just sweetened the deal.

... Sounds like money well spent ...

Just remember to get an RA# from Tour Edge and when the weather gets cold and cranky you can send it back and they'll give you a new club - minus the love bites.
