I many of you in this forum use Mizuno irons. I plan on hitting some and maybe buying the MP52s, when I can finally afford new irons. I also like the looks of the Srixon irons. Has anyone own them or hit balls with them, and if so, any opinions?

Srixons are sweet. They are easily every bit as good as Mizunos. You cant go wrong with just about any forged Japanese irons.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

I have a set of srixon I-506 irons and they are the best Ive hit
I have hit mizuno MP 30 regularly as well as titleist and other leading brands

Do not committ to buying anything until you at least hit the srixon irons
either 701 or 701 tours
or 506
or 302 ( plenty will say they are the best )
you can ge the 506 and 302 pretty cheap now
but even the 701s are cheaper than mizunos etc
another good reason to look at them

Thx. I'll see if my pro shop has them. As for certain models at discount prices, it doesn't pay for me. I see many irons, on TGW and other stores, discounted, many below $500. I would love an older set(new of course) of Titleist irons. My problem is I need shafts 1" - 1"+ longer. So even if I get a set of irons, 5 - PW, say at $450. After adding another $300+ for reshafting, that's $750, more than most new clubs. Then a possible $50 - $100 fitting fee also. Why couldn't I be a normal sized golfer, who can use off the rack clubs? :( I'd be shopping Ebay right now.

I demo'd the Srixon Z 745 and 545 irons today... Wow! These irons are as nice as anything out there. I have been pretty much sold that Mizuno would be the next iron set for me (I currently play MP-52s and REALLY like them). But after trying out the Srixons today, I don't see how I could not throw them into the mix for consideration... And they're $150 cheaper I believe. Worth checking out for anyone who plays irons in this category

Yes. I hit a z745 4i today and WOW these things are butteryyyy. I was really impressed with the weighting, feel, and trajectory.

I hit one out of the toe and it went as straight as I could ask for. Definitely worth considering.

Just wanted to plug Srixon z745 once more......

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
