Mizuno Mp-67 vs. Mp-68

Ok, I have a really good opportunity to buy a new set of Mp-67 for ~$550 + tax, which I think is a great price as of now. I also know that the Mp-68's are right around the corner, coming out within a few months.

Should I wait for the new design or go for the deal on the 67's? I have a slight feeling that when the 68's come out, the price on the 67's will be around $500 everywhere to get rid of inventory.

The waiting for the new model is a bad game to get caught up in. The MP-68's may be just around the corner, but then there will be something else new 'around the corner' so it never ends. If you can get that good a deal on the 67's now I would go for it. Who knows if the 68's will be as good anyway. One thing about Mizuno is they do not drop prices big on the irons just because a new model has come out (and will not allow most stores to do that either). Also, if you are not a high level competition guy then the 68's will probably have the new rules to conform to the USGA/R&A; Grooves Rule, so they'll have less 'bite'. If you are someone who plans to play in USGA and/or PGA Tour events then it would make more sense to by irons with the new grooves because the older configuration will not be allowed next year in high level USGA events or PGA Tour events and equipment rules will not be changing for average golfers until at least 2024 (if ever). If you plan to compete it might make sense to investigate when groove requirement changes will be made at events you plan to play and what kind of grooves the MP-68's will have.

I agree with PiKapp. I will add one thing to it. Mizuno is a company that will sometimes not completly discontinue a popular model when new ones come out. You can still get the MP-32s for instance. They might do the same thing with the 67. I guess my point is that even though a new model might come out, there is no guarantee from Mizuno that the old model will be completly gone so there might not be a big price decrease that you are hoping for. I got burned once waiting for the price to drop on a certain club that was getting replaced. When it dropped to my liking I couldn't find the exact one I wanted. If you like them, get them now and it will remove the stress about it.

The 67s and 68s are shaped differently and the 68s are slightly shorter heel to toe. Think MP37 type of look. They are also going to run close to a $1000.

If you're getting the 67s, new, for $500, why not pull the plug? Unless, you like the looks of the 68s better.

I picked up my MP-67's a month ago for $400 brand new. Best purchase I've made this year. They'll really make you focus on becoming a better ballstriker, and there's nothing like the feel of a well struck ball. Get the 67's, get fitted, and enjoy.

With PX shafts or S300s?

- anyway a great deal!!! Are the 68s supposed to be the upgrade to the MP-67? They look like they're a cross between the MP-14 & MP-32. They look awesome, though. If the newness matters to you, then hold out for the official release and buy these irons . But buy from a dealer, not on eBay.

The 68s were already on ebay from a reputable dealer out of the UK. He was selling the heads, only and the sale fetched close to $800.

Apparently, these have already found their way into several players' bags on the European Tour as have the new MP62s. The new 62s happen to be black. Throw some black KBS shafts and some white Iomic grips and you have a sweet looking iron, IMHO.

$400 is a great deal to the guy above. The only thing I don't like about the MP-67's is the weaker loft. I would have to bend them 1* stronger to match my older Mizuno Pro's.

You can still pick them up. Just inquire as to how much the shipping costs are and if there is some sort of VAT tax that is applied.

FWIW, I found a great deal on some custom made irons only to be told at the time of purchase that shipping alone was close to $100.

Hey, greate deal on those mp 67's. Where did you get them? Looking at changing my callaway x forged (2007) for these. The Aussi's just love their Callaway's so can get a good price on ebay for them.

I play the 67's and love em. They are the best iron I've ever used, now that said the 68's do look good. If you want the newest irons out then wait for the 68's. I know the 67's are good I"m sure the 68's will be but I can't see the point of spending more money for the newer blades. The reality of it is your purchasing blade irons not game improvement so what is the point of spending more money on a newer model. There is probably not a significant difference in performance.

I don't think there's a huge difference between the two clubs. The main thing I would look at is the price difference. If you can get a new set of MP67 for 550 $, there's no point in buying the MP68 for 900/1000$. I would wait to buy the MP67 and give both a hit. Then you can see if there's a huge difference between the two and decided which one you like best in terms of performance and price.

not a great price for mp 67. Got a new set of ebay before the 68s hit for 425 bucks. Look hard and be patient... and you can get them cheaper.
