I was playing 9 before work this morning, and as I was approaching the 5th green, one of the grounds crew zipped over the green with a fancy piece of equipment and dropped about 20-25 pieces of white foam on the green.

I figured it was a pesticide or something, but I didn't get a chance to stop him and ask and my searches on the internet have not been helpful.

Anyone know what it is?

They were probably spraying a pesticide or something on the green. The white foam is used as a marker so he doesn't overlap too much. That is my guess anyway, I've never seen it used on a golf course but that is what we use on the farm.

The foam is just a marker of sorts, too, so they know where they've sprayed.

Exactly...I grew up on a farm and we had the foam for our gigantic boom sprayers. It saved a lot of money and time. I chuckled a little at the memories the first time I saw it on a green.
