I've been playing golf for around 22 years now and even still today I'm amazed at how easily the game can come and go.

Two weeks ago I played in a four day tournament and hit the ball beautifully. One week ago I played in another tournament and felt like I had no clue as to what was going on with my golf swing.

I typically hit a draw on every shot. That's my preferred shot shape. Here lately though, everything I've hit has been a push or a push fade. Of course it's not a huge push because I tend to aim slightly right of my target planning for my draw... here lately it's not drawing and just staying out there. To me there's nothing more frustrating to set up to play your "normal" shot only to see the ball do something completely different than you expect. Just leaves you scratching your head.

I started thinking about it and thought my grip had gotten a little weak possibly. Makes sense, right? So, the last two days on the range I've adjusted my grip to be a little stronger which in theory should allow me to square the clubface easier. It was like a light switch, I instantly had my preferred shot shape and was making pure contact again. We'll see how long this lasts...

Easy game!

I know how you feel. Recently my grip had gotten a bit strong and i too was hitting push/push fades. What's funny is I always thought strong grips created hooks.. oh well :)

Simple fixes that ultimately do solve the problem are always nice.

Well in theory a strong grip should produce a hook but it all depends on your swing. You could be holding off your release without thinking about it because you've got such a strong grip which could lead to your push.
