I'm also not thrilled with my PW and seem to do better out of bunkers and chipping with my 9 iron. That is not to say I do well with my 9 iron, just better.

From what I've read on here I think I should avoid blade irons b/c they're hard to use unless you know what you're doing. If I were to purhase a PW and SW, does the same rule apply? Do I need to be buying cavity-backed wedges, same as regular irons?

If anyone has any suggestions I'd welcome them. I'm not looking to spend a lot, I just need something functional to use while I improve.

Wow that's a lot of bounce no the SW! But that's a GREAT deal and I'd recommend that. 3 wedges for $100.00! It's a steal!

I don't think cavity gw/sw/lw exist, but those linked above are great for beginners. I still only play with a pw and a 56*/14 bounce and don' miss a gw or lw at all.

I wasn't necessarily planning to get a lob or gap wedge, but if those are nice wedges 3 for $100 seems like a good deal.

Has anyone played/own the cleveland CG14 with the gel back. They look like cavity backs. I have the CG12 and like it, but was thinking about getting a 50 degree, and it looks like the 14 would be really forgiving for a wedge.
