Through craigslist, I got in touch with a guy selling a new-in-wrapper Nike SQ5900 for 100 bucks. I'm supposed to go look tomorrow, and I was wondering if there are some tell-tale things to look for to determine if the club may be a fake.

Look for a serial number and write it down to call nike and confim authenticiity. Take a printout of an authentic one and compare the two. Other than that.. Ask question about how he got it, why hes selling and see if you can tell if hes lying.

Alright, the club is the real deal! And I'm the proud owner of a new Nike SQ 5900. The deal was so sweet, I think I can get my $ back out of it if I decide I don't like it. The trouble is, I'm stuck at work now, and it's raining... maybe tomorrow I can hit it!

That always happens when someone gets new clubs. Whenever it's raining here I assume someone just got a new set of killer clubs they desperately want to try out.

I just bought mizuno mp-32 3-pw on ebay. They came in an official mizuno factory box, the seller had noted he was an authorized mizuno dealer, and the serial no. is same whole set. I had been using Titleist 981 irons from 2000 with a Select Light graphite stiff shaft.

After one bucket of balls, I am very pleased and I think I got a great deal on that buy. You can find my transaction quite easily on ebay as not many sellers are offering such clubs. I did send a quick email with serial no. to mizuno just to check up after reading numerous posts here.

While caution should be the norm with ebay and used on Craig's List, there are authentic clubs out there, and with the economy as such, us buyers are more empowered.

Now you got me all paranoid for buying off the web haha, I never even thought about this

From what I understand, many of the clubs for sale on ebay are fakes made in China. China doesn't adhere to our patent and trademark laws, so what they're doing is perfectly legal there... I'm unsure of the legalities when they ship internationally. You can also find fake watches, electronics, and clothes for cheap there. Some of the knockoffs are very good, others not so much.

It happens some, but take it from me, I've never bought one fake club off the internet including Ebay and I have over 100 tansactions there and probably another 500 off other forms of internet sales. You just have to do some research and know what to look for.

I have had very good luck buying off of ebay. I always read the reputation of a seller before bidding though.
