Looking for any info Adams A2 irons. I know they are old but I've hit everything Adams at Roger Dunn and was just curious about these irons. Not the OS. I've googled just for info regarding topline width (b/c the A3's are relatively thin... which is nice) as well as how they look on address.... but to no avail. I know there was a review here (which was good) but just wanted more info. Any info you could give would be great (especially if you play or have played them). I'm in no rush to buy... just want to be complete in my future purchase. Thanks in advance.

They have been pretty good clubs to me. I've also hit the A2OS and the regular A2's are much better if you like a more traditional looking club. Not much offset but they are definitely cavity backs, however you can work them a bit. They hybrids are definately more of a "players" club than the irons - very workable and pretty low launch for hybrids. They are the same exact size/shape as the Idea Pro (at least to my eye); quite different from the hybrids that came with the A2OS. In fact knowing how marketing typically works they may very well be Idea Pros with a different paint job, which may explain why they are so workable with low ball flight.

I find that there is a bit of a gap between the 4h and 5i, but at that distance I don't have all that much accuracy so its not a huge deal for me. It might be for a more accomplished player. I've improved from about a 25 when I got them to now about a 16 and I don't think I've outgrown them.

Could you tell me, in your opinion, compared to other clubs... do they look thick? I know look is secondary but... I can't tell from pictures. When I think thick... I think Callaway X-22... they hit well... but they are not pretty.

The tops are fairly thick. Offset looks similar to the X22 tour, but the soles look about like the X22 regular. The topline is probably halfway between the tour and regular; you'd never mistake it for a blade. The back is much less in your face, however, with just a small black logo, no channel cut out or shiny graphics or anything.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%!

    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
    • Original definition use to or still is how far offline you hit it. It might be better to think of it as consistency in retaining favorable launch conditions to optimize distance.   That heat map showed a gigantic 0-3% loss in ball speed. That is absurd. The true 100% sweet spot is tiny for all clubs. Good luck telling the difference if the sweet spot is under 3% in a sizable area. Especially considering variation in launch angle, spin, and outdoor weather.
