I recently had an epiphany and it has helped my ball striking quite a bit.

I have always strived to have extremely light grip pressure throughout my swing to promote a nice free swing. What I found was that I could not really control the place where I cocked my wrist and the club would set at the top of my swing in different places.

Recently I have been griping the club from address to the top of my swing with a much firmer grip. It allows me to really feel the club and control where I cock my wrists and set the club. As I begin my down swing I "let go of the club" and release almost all grip pressure.

I still get the free swing but I can control where the club sets much better. Ball striking has improved quite a bit.
