  1. 1. When you play in a city/regional/state "event," do you like to take a caddy?

I don't know about you, but I like to take a caddy in events. I also like to walk, when possible.

For example, my state amateur tournaments - even my city amateur tournaments. I'm not talking about my club championships or member-guests, but actual events.

I like a caddy. Most of the other guys ride in carts (by themselves), but I like a caddy because it guarantees I have someone to talk to in case the other two guys aren't, well, let's just say they aren't aren't conversational or worthy of conversation. Plus I like to walk, and with a caddy I can walk and not get tired. Plus he'll clean my golf ball and my clubs and all that.

So how about you? If you play in any amateur or even some little pro events, state, city, regional, whatever, do you like to take a caddy?

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

I havent used a caddie in any of the club or state touraments ive played in. If i would have qaulified for the state ametuer this year, i think it would have been manditory that the player have one. Its not something i would think about needing to play golf, so if i dont have a use a caddie, i wont. Ive never played with a one, so i think i would just feel arkward and distracted by the experience.

It's been a number of years since I've played competetively, but I always used a caddy. One of my best friends and regular golfing buddy was a caddy at Cypress Point for 15 years. He knew my game, knew the courses and probably saved me 1-2 shots per side on average. I can't say that a cart has ever helped my game!

Never have had a caddie. I really wish I did though. It'd make it much easier getting some advice on club selection and not having to carry your bag.

I dunno..putting the bag down behind the ball and pulling a club out is practically apart of my preshot routine. Playing with a caddie would be so different from normal that i wouldnt know what to do with myself...
