Just wondering whether anyone here has tried the Cleveland 588 DSG (Dynamic Sole Grind,

Let's just say it works as well as your game allows it to work. All the DSG does is allow you to open up the clubface and allow the leading edge to remain low. Theoretically, this'll reduce your chances of blading the ball, as can sometimes happen when players open up the face around the greens.

It's still a matter of execution though.

BNguyen,

I'm not a big fan of Cleveland's DSG wedges, and they've been duds in the marketplace. 1. They're shiny chrome. Unless you play in consistently overcast conditions wear a welding helmet. 2. The sole grind opens up too easily, especially when squared up to the ball. It simply doesn't feel solid through the turf. 3. Too many great wedge options on the market now. It's a nice idea, but execution has been poor, and the shiny chrome finish is no good. A good clubmaker can take a standard wedge grind off some metal from the heel, toe, and back flange. That will be a much better choice.

    • Thanks for the reply. I downloaded a software update and can now measure swing speed without a ball. Without a ball and with an all out effort, I can get over 100mph swing speed. But as soon as I put a ball in front of me, I tense up and the swing speed is back to low 90's. More work to be done!  I am also excited to tweak everything to see if I can improve smash factor.

    • Kind of reminds me of my first driver - a TM R580 at a whopping 400cc.  Still have one in the stable - and like to hit it on occasion.  Makes me wonder if the Mini-drivers of today are a testing ground to drivers of tomorrow of the powers that be opt to roll back driver head size in conjunction to the ball roll back to limit the overall distance.  I’ve not done a lot of research on shot distances between the mini and regular drivers, but figured there is some.  Will be something to follow as the mini-driver unfolds.
