Is it good or bad to try and roll your hands over through impact? Will this help extension after impact? I know this happens naturally but I didn't know if it would be good to try and do it more.

Looking forward to the comments on this one as I was wondering the same exact thing today...

I dont "feel" like I turn my hands over enough either... I see still of the pros and they have major turnover...

When I try to conciously do it though, the results are less than stellar

When I do try and roll my hands I can get a good draw but I'm scared that it could be a nasty hook if I'm not too careful.

The hands should be reacting to the turning of the body, shoulders, and arms... if your left arm folds naturally, you will have released... if your left hand releases downward naturally, the hands will release. Trying to time a roll-over through impact is far too complicated and dangerous for mere mortals.

If you want to get a feel for this, take the club at chest level and swing it back and forth like you are hitting a baseball -- the club face will open and square and close all on its own. This is very close to the way a natural, on plane, swing will work as well.

    • Day 121: did a bit of mirror work with my driver. Working on shortening the backswing.
    • Day 305 - Grip and backswing work. Full swings were bothering the hip a bit.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
