Hi I'm new to this forum and I play for my high school. I'm having a hard time with my wedge situation. I play with Taylormade RAC OS 2 irons standard everything ( i going to get fitted for shafts and everything would probably help my game a lot but im having a hard time finding a place to get fitted) and my PW is a 45*. I have the cg10 black pearl standard (all my clubs are standard everything) which is a 56*. And basically i have no club in between which is a very big problem. My teammate gave me his 53* cleveland wedge in case i wanted to bend it or something to make it my gap wedge. I carry both a 3 and a 5 wood, but i could probably make do without my 3 wood so that I can carry 3 wedges to help with the large gaps between my wedges. Since I have a 45* PW, what would you guys recommend for a combination of wedges. I was going to get the standard (once again) 52-56-60 for my wedges but i figured the gap between the 45* and the 52* is just too large. My father recommended me getting the Approach wedge that comes with the set, but i noticed no one caries the approach wedge. So i'm guessing that using the blade wedges such as the cg10 wedge i have is the way to go. I've learned alot from you guys already and I appreciate your help.

i had the same problem.. u just have to learn how to do half and 3/4 shots with ur pithcing wedge... or do like i did... i recently switched to blades where the lofts on all clubs are slightly higher. i used a 45 degree PW as well before.

I like the Dave Pelz system for wedges. He says everyone should carry 4 wedges and have 3 different length swings to cover all the possible yardages. He says a 1/2, 3/4, and full swing with those four wedges gives you 12 different yardages to work with. That sounds like a good system to me and I used an abbreviated system like that. I only carry 3 wedges, a PW, 54 and 58. Between those and the 3 different length swings, I can cover most distances from 120 yards and in. Once you get used to making those abbreviated swings, it is easy to develop touch for the odd distances. You might want to pick up his book, "The Dave Pelz Short Game Bible". Just reading it, before I even tried the drills probably took several strokes off my round.
