Just got my SKB Standard (48x12) case via FedEx yesterday and I am really excited to use it for a trip to Houston over the Labor Day weekend. It seems quite sturdy from the shell to the latches to the TSA approved lock on the middle latch. My Sun Mountain Superlight 3.5 fits very well. But despite the padding on the top inside, I will be wrapping my clubheads in either a towel or bubble wrap (if I have some sitting around).

I will post my reactions after my trip, but just wanted to see if there were any other experiences with SKB cases that I may have missed when skimming the travel bag threads on the forum. Everything I saw involved a decade-old bag still in use or some similar story, which I am quite encouraged by. This is an investment, after all.

Do you strap the bag tight or is there a chance it might move inside the case? If it can move, I'd suggest putting in the shaft of a broom or something like that to protect the longest clubs. If the bag has no chance to move inside if you flip it upside down it's no problem, but the clubs should be stuck in the bag with a towel or something so they don't rattle.

I have an SKB golf case that I bought about 11 years ago. I used it a good bit when I was travelling with work.

I stuffed a small golf bag with all my sticks plus tons of clothes and essential for the week. This left me with only a carry-on to worry with. At the time I was flying Delta weekly and had no issues.

I've collected some big scrapes on the outside of this thing from the bag handlers, etc. I've never had any contents damaged.

The only time I use it now is when I'm driving to visit friends and family back in Eastern, NC. I can throw it in the back of my small pickup and know that my clubs are weather proofed.

I lossed the key for it...need to contact SKB for a replacement.

I doubt the bag I just one on ebay will fit in it, though.

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.

    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
