Both are nice, and feel a little different. I think it's what you're used to. I've always played DG's, so I prefer the feel of them a little more, but I could get used to Project X.

not a big fan of the rifle shafts; i like the idea of them but playing them im not so hot on.. project x are rifles right haha? i just prefer stepped shafts.. just used to it.. had precision rifle shafts in my older wilson blades but felt they were rather raw feeling compared to the sensicore trutempers i have now... they look cool tho hehe

i got 5.5 project x on my mizuno. They feel nice at impact and i get the ball flight i want. Its light weight and stiffer tip makes my shots simple and clean.

This is all just my opinion and experiences...

I prefer the DG. When I was testing clubs last summer I hit PX 5.5 & 6.0, and the DG S-300 & X-100. My old set has DG 300 and while they were fine, I could not swing as hard as I wanted to on certain shots because they would go left. I tested the PX 5.5 and for me and my swing, I could find no difference with the S-300. I know they are supposed to provide different results, but they were the same for me. Same ballflight, trajectory, and same problem going left. I went to the 6.0 and could not hit it. It felt like a lead pipe to me. Everything went low and to the right. Then as a last resort, I hit the X-100 and they were perfect. I would have thought that if I couldn't hit the 6.0, I would not be able to hit the 100, but I would have been wrong. At first I lost some distance with them, but gained the accuracy. After having them in a new set for a year now, the distance has come back,and I am actually a little longer with each club. I attribute that to figuring out my swing with the new clubs and shafts and everything has come together.

Since I have been able to figure out the stiffer shaft I would like to try the PX 6.0 again. I think my results might be a little different. I have a friend who has 6.5's in his clubs and I hit a couple of balls with them and didn't have any problems at all. Who know though. I am real happy with my set up now, so it will probably just wait 6-7 years until I need a new set of clubs.

Also, how does the additional weight feel. I think I would like that because to me, a heavy club seems to swing itself. Once you find the slot at the top, all you have to do is drop the club to finish.

i am thinkning of gettin some different shafts for my PC's
they currently have the Nike Speed Step's in them, Reg. Shaft
when i really go at it, i alway miss left, sometimes a draw, sometimes a hook....i never hook
i play a natural fade

now, my 5i ss is approx. 91-94mph, driver is 103-107
according to their website, the 6.0's would fit me best...but would something slightly stiffer than the Reg.s work better? (PJX 5.5's?)
i have a very smooth tempoed swing

i play a DGS300 in my 4w and it feels great

so....im not sure really what to play?
PJX 5.5, PJX 6.0 or DGS300?

any help greatly appreciated

If you have a good enough swing, it won't make a difference. I did struggle with those shots for a very short time. Once I figured that I had to get my hand through just a little bit faster everything was fine. I would give them a try if you can find one to demo. You might just have to play around with a couple of things to make sure you are getting the club face square.

They are actually the same weight as the S-300 so if that is what you have you probably won't notice a difference in weight. The S-400 is the shaft that is heavier. You can tell when you swing them that they are stiffer, but I can't tell any difference in weight.

i did this with my new irons, i was right between the s300 and x100 and went with the x100 because the just felt like they swung themselves. 3/4 shots were not really a problem just dont try to rush it unless you have strong forearms or you will block/shank in a heart beat. I had to learn this the hard way because i love playing half shots and working the ball and what not. but i say if you even close i would play the x100. My 6 iron club head is in the mid/upper 90's if its any help to compare to what you may need. but DG and PX are really two different shafts i dont know why people keep trying to compare them.

I naturally have a quicker tempo. I've always felt like I've had to pace my swing to keep it from going left. It'd be nice to have a shaft that I know I could swing aggressive with and fire my right side as hard as I want.

I have the same 6I swing specs as you. I carry my 6I approximately 180 yards and have a driver swing speed of 110 with a carry of 270 yards. I'm now convinced I should be OK with X100's. I think people compare PX and DG's because low handicap players both tend to be drawn to them because manufacturers try to push both on these types of players. Thanks.

I tried Royal Precision rifle 5.0 in some Callaway X20s, and also in the stock Uniflex. The 5.0 had a slightly lower trajectory. Other than that, not much difference.

RP also puts out flighted rifle shafts, but I'm not sure what those are supposed to do. Also, not all Royal Precision shafts were Project X, at least in the 2008 time frame.

In the Dynamic Gold family, the DG SLs are worth noting if you want lighter weight. The SL shafts average only about 100 grams, rather than 120 or so for most Royal Precision and other DGs.

Agreed, I think they have a totally different feel and create significantly different results. I've played for long periods with X100s and PX 6.5s. I like them both, but they are totally different.

The PXs seem to make the ball float on forever, with a sort of lazy curve if you hit either a draw or fade. To me, I think they are best suited for "point and shoot" type of golf where you keep things simple and try to bomb every shot high and straight at the flag. The X100s seem like more of a "shotmaker's" shaft. You can hit drastically different shots with different swings: high cuts, low draws, high draws, and everything in between. They definitely seem to spin more. I might be overstating the difference a little bit, but I really think it's pretty substantial.

I just played around with the mp57's both with S300 and 5.5 shafts. I liked the PX Shafts a lot, but I was hitting into a net so I dont know what the ball flight looked like, but if working the ball is not really an option with the PX, why do so many guys playing the MP line of mizuno use these shafts?

A lot of people think low spin is a good thing. It's easier to control, you are less likely to over-do a draw or fade, and some people think it makes the ball cut through the wind better. You can still work the ball a ton, I just think the ball "wants" to behave more like I described in my first post. Phil Mickelson for instance, uses PXs, as do a lot of other pros who work the ball regularly.

Personally, I think I play better with PXs because I tend to get more unintentional sidespin with X100s, but it's not a huge difference.
