So Ive got this idea.... Im not happy at all where I am career wise and am looking to do something that would make me happy...

My idea is to take a crap ton of lessons and get my game in great shape, where I can cut like 10 strokes off my score.

I want to shoot an 81 twice and be able to go into the PGA apprenticeship program. I shoot high 80's right now. I would love nothing more than to teach golf for a living.

Right now I'm in a great spot for it, although there is a lot of other teachers here, the weather is great for year round golf....

My wife and I are going to be relocating to the denver/boulder area in April of next year, and just wondering what the teaching pros do out there during the 5 months when you cant play golf...??

Do you think this goal is attainable and can work be found in an environment that has a long offseason??

Thanks a ton for your input!

Jim

Don't take this the wrong way, but with an 18.9 index, you are a long, long way from becoming a teaching pro. It's a great goal, but I would hesitate on staking my familys financial future on being able to pull it off.

Thanks man, that never occured to me...

All jokes aside, I plan on keeping my full time job and just taking a crap load of lessons......

I feel like I can teach better than I can play (right now at least)

I think I can be there within 2 years, once I can pass that playing test, I can apprentice ya know...

Oh, and my family doesnt have much of a financial future right now, which is why im considering this.. If I was making 50k a year, I would just stay where I am and play twice a week and be happy

My guess would be that most of them have an indoor teaching area so they can do it over the winter. There is a pro in my area that does a pretty good business over the winter because he has an indoor area.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.
