It is a really humbling thing when you realize I don't hit the ball well enough to play a "players" club.

I think the operative issue in your case isn't your skill level but rather that your clubs aren't suited to you.

I can't wait to sell my irons while they are still worth something. I need some forgiveness.

When you begin shopping around don't rule out doing a trade in toward your new clubs. While it's true you might be able to get more for your old set selling them yourself you might also be able to get that much in trade.
