i'm a 13 handicapper and have a swing speed in the high 90s with the driver, today i hit the project x 5.5 and they had a nice high ballflight but i didn't seem to lose any distance.

Thanks for that! ive seen some ap1's on offer and they had these shafts listed as options:

Dynamic Gold H/L
Rifle
Dynamic Gold
Nippon ns-100
Project x flighted

Out of all these options and reading reviews im thinking of Rifle Shafts or the Project x flighted!! What king of player and ball flight etc are the project x flighted for??

hi dont know if this helps or not but thought i'd just drop a review about the rifle shaft.
I have a rifle precision S-90 shaft in my supersteel burner 3 wood and it provides a nice medium to low trajectory..

You are bound to lose some distance with flighted irons. I've played with two: Nippon and Tour Concept and both were shorter than the Project X shafts in my MP32s. When I mean shorter, I'm talking roughly three to six yards. It may not seem like much but it can be the difference from being on the green to falling short or being pin high and having a fifteen foot putt.

I would hit all three. Although I love having the Nippon's in my lower irons there is no replacing the Project X in the scoring irons. It's not even close, in my experience.

I've played the Project X 5.5's and at first I liked them a lot. I got a nice high ball flight with a fairly flat trajectory. Distance wise, I gained maybe 4-6 yards per club. The only downside for me was the feeling a bit harsh. It didn't feel "smooth" if that makes sense. PX isn't for everyone so make sure you go to a fitter to aid you. I went back to DG but I'm getting the urge to try out some KBS shafts.

Well, the rifle flighted shafts taper as they go from handle to clubhead, so the swing feels a bit different (to me, anyway) than it does with DG or Project X. Personally, I like the Project X shafts a lot, but it's really trial and error for the individual golfer. Don't know that it matters so much unless you're good enough to know why you're tinkering around with you club set up and have some specific goal in mind. The only time I think I'd change now is if I had clubs made for me by a clubmaker I trusted and he ran through a whole gamut of them to fit me for the one he thought suited my game best based on launch monitor data and actual "on course" performance.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
