i was wondering if using irons and hybrids with a regular shaft flex and a driver and 3 wood in a stiff shaft flex does that or can that cause any problems in my swing, ball flight, etc since typically your swing speed will be higher on the stiff flex than the regular flex shaft?

all your clubs should be taylored to your swing assuming it is developed. all my shafts are stiff. when i used something like callaway uniflex my balls go everywhere but where im aiming. but with that being said some regularshafts play like a stiff like the matrix ozik for example

the hybrids are Taylor Made RE*AX SuperFast 60g regular graphite shafts
the driver has TaylorMade Superfast REAX 50 stiff Graphite shaft
the 3 wood has Taylor Made RE*AX SuperFast 49g stiff graphite shaft.

I've heard lots of different "laws" through the years on this.

Some say go with regular on woods for distance, and stiff on irons to get better control.

More conventional wisdom says base it on your driver swing speed.

Others say it depends on your swing tempo. A nearby golf pro, age late 50s, has another shaft plan. He has stiffs on his driver and 3 iron, but regular on all else. He says the stiffs will bend more for a smooth swing on longer clubs, giving him more control with no distance loss.

And then there's the guy who coached Jack Nicklaus in college. Bob Kepler used A (senior flex) for 2 and 3 iron, Regular for 4, 5, and 6, and Stiff for short irons and wedges. Kepler's reasoning: the longer the shot, the more help you need on distance and height.

The Secret: Go with whatever works.
