My first set of new clubs were purchased from a golf shop some years ago. I went through the fitting process and the guy determined that I would need additional length. He suggested I purchase the Square Two PCX irons that he had with an additional 1" and a stiff shaft. When I asked if regular shafts would be more appropriate, he commented that with the additional length that the stiff would be better. I still have the box and apparently the swing weight is D5.
I have always wondered if he was on the up and up, or just needed to unload the set. I have done a little "self fitting" recently, using websites and plugging in the info, and it appears that shaft length could be anywhere from +.25 to +.50. They all seem to agree that a +1* is required.
