Hey you guys right now i have a Callaway Big Bertha Warbird, very old club and am looking at upgrading, im wondering if i should just go on up the line and take the 2007 big bertha? any thoughts on it? I hit the warbird very well and i wonder if buying this club without trying it out first would be okay since its still in the same line of club? thanks

I like the looks of the Warbird and Hawkeye. Curious why you would replace it if you hit it well? newer isn't always better.

I picked up a like new Hawkeye driver and am really enjoying it.

I will never buy a golf club without hitting it, ever again. Thankfully my bag now is filled with clubs that I have demo'd extensively before purchase (except the wedge, thankfully it has worked out well for me though). I think I tried out at least 30 different putters and 10-50 strokes with each putter before I realized which one was mine.

As for the driver, get over to a golf shop that has a fairway simulator, warm up, and start ripping balls. Once you figure out which driver or two that you like, walk out of the store and come back another day and do it all over again. I dunno if it matters for you, but I needed to wear my shoes and my glove to make my final decision. I'm kind of OCD when it comes to stuff like this though.

The BB Warbird has been called the most perfect driver design of all time. I bought a used one a few years ago and love it (love it!). But, that doesn't mean the shaft or the loft are the best match for your swing - those are the only reasons I'd "upgrade".

I went from a Warbird 11* to the BB 460 9*. The 460 is a very high launching club. Or I should say shaft. Sold that to my dad and bought a 07 Burner. To tell you the truth I've thought of returning to the Warbird. Maybe 5 to 10 yards less from the Tee, but I'm much more consitant with it. If you can, do a side by side evaluation at the range before you buy.

I'm sorry for not clarifying but it is a 3 wood not driver. Some of the newer 3 woods have a very "tin can" sound and feel to them. Especially the new callaways.... I want something with a real solid feel

3-woods are like women... when you find one you hit well...

whoops... I mean, when you find one you like... you better hold onto it for a long time.

honestly... 3-wood technology is pretty much unchanged and I would just find one that you like and stick with it for a while... I would worry very little about what "line" of clubs it is in or what brand it is... just make sure you hit it well.

I remember my old warbird I loved that club probly never would have gotten rid of it if it hadn't been damaged beyound repair (dang clumsy kids back in high school). But if you want suggestions on 3 woods really just go with what you like. The only person who can tell what fits you best is you. All i can say is try to avoid brand loyalty and check out everything before you decide.

If you hit it well, KEEP IT. I had a BB 3 wood for years, re- shafted it 2 years ago, and it was never the same. Went through 3 different shafts, with little success, and sold it. Finally, after trying lots of clubs, bought the F speed Cobra, and like it almost as much as the old BB.

the main problem with the club is it has a very rounded bottom edge (which alot of manufacturers are moving away from) whick make it harder to hit from the fairway....
