Hi everybody,
I'm considering buying a Ping G10 driver. Here's how I describe my golf game.
I probably carry the ball about 220-230 yards in the air with the driver. I hit the ball high. I currently have a Taylormade 580 9 degrees with the Taylormade stiff shaft. No problem getting it high enough
I've heard the Ping launches it high. Any suggestions on the loft and shaft that might work for me?
Thanks a lot for your help.

ya if you hit it high look into the i15 or the tm r7 superquad tp. i would recommend some from or tour player driver because of your high ball flight. i know when i switched to a callaway x460 tour (my first of over 7 tour drivers) i gained a good 20 yards. you could always go to a demo day for ping they have them all over

I personally don't think there is much difference between name brand drivers. I do think the name brands are better than knock offs or inexpensive clones, but among the top brands one is pretty much as good as another. To me what is more important is finding one that suits your eye at address with a shaft that fits your swing. I've been gaming Nike drivers for about 18 months and I've been very happy with the choice. Both had the stock stiff shaft, but after gaming the Dymo 3w I preferred the feel of the shaft in it, so I traded in my old driver for the Dymo with the same shaft.

Ping makes great drivers and if you like it after hitting it I'd say it would be a great choice. I'm not a low capper by any means and one that is may well put more of a premium on a particular driver that I do, but in my experience I can play well (or badly) with just about any decent driver. Get a shaft that suits your swing and a driver than makes you happy and I'll bet your performance with it will be up to your capabilities.

Hi everybody,

The G10 is a great club

Although I did recently win a brand new 07-08 Taylormade Burner 10.5 with a regular shaft. Would probably fit you nicely. I can ship it contus $120 complete with head cover. Sorry for the obvious sales pitch but you could save some cash on a good driver and I can get rid of something i can't use without having to put it on Fleebay

Might want to check out the Ping G10 9* with a ProLaunch Red shaft. I've seen a few of those on eBay for a decent price. I really like the G10 head since it feels so solid when I hit it.

wow, just wow.

What? a guy is helping someone out. This is no different than him putting it in the BST, only here he for sure will see it. Perhaps your for not helping people? Class act.

The G10 is a great head... not a huge fan of the shaft, always felt soft, no matter what flex it was, and went left easy for me.. if you wnat something lower launching, try out the NV, Rombax (i think its the Z, the grey one lol) Diamana Whiteboard, maybe a blueboard or Fubuki, a matrix F6M2, VS Proto, or go with the 7.5 dgree head. Going with the lowerlofted head means more sidespin tho, so be wary of that.

i agree with wrx_junki here... i've owned a 10.5* G10 with the TFC stock stiff shaft and also a 9* prolaunch red. i found the head to be relatively high launching, which is why i went with the lower trajectory shaft. the combo is a pretty solid one if you're looking to move your ball flight a bit lower.

I just gought a Ping G10 Driver 10.5 degree loft from 3ballsgolf on ebay(a great seller by the way, Got it used for 52.00 and it is in great condition). I also bouoght a set of Ping ISI - K irons blue dot with original jk steel shafts(paid 159.00 for 3- sw). I can't wait to use them next week. What are your thoughts on the irons? I plan to uppade to the G10 irons this Spring and wonder if I should go with the steel or graphite shatfs. Your thoughts please. I have never used Ping clubs before but from what iv'e read and also heard they are awesome!

    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
