I love the Golf Channel, I think it has the potential to help the LPGA. What if the ladies played three day tourneys, Monday through Wed on the same courses the Men will play that week. We get to see the courses early and see them played more to our skill level. Then we get to see the men take the course apart Thursday-Sun. It could reduce costs for the LPGA in that they would dovetail with the men's tourneys.

Good idea, but the course prior to the PGA event is usually full due to laying of thousands of miles of cable, positioning mikes, etc on Monday, then practice rounds on Tuesday, then pro-am on Wednesday.

I suppose they could do it the week prior or week after. Then, there would be the issue of the course being riddled with divots and ball marks.

It might help the LPGA, but hurt the PGA. Many people look forward to playing the Pro-Am.

I have nothing against the LPGA and in fact enjoy watching them play as much as the men. I don't know what percentage of golfers are women compared to men, but I would think if more women became interested in the game, the LPGA would reap that reward.

I also think if there were co-ed pro tournaments, it could help all golf.

I dont think divots would be that much of a problem - girls and boys have different landing zones, if you know what i mean

. But seriously, its not just the 4 days you see on TV - courses for big tournaments are normally shut down well in advance to prepare. And having two big tournaments in a row would really damage the golf course bad - just think about all the visitors trampling through the course, the hospitality tents, parking, maybe even limited driving range space and so on. No, that would never work. And lets not forget - the members sure wouldnt be happy to have their course closed for 1 months and then had to play on a wreckage of a course for the next couple of months.

I have no idea how you would think that would work. What would happen when there is a full rain-out day or two? Wednesday is also a pro-am day for many of the men and the women have their own. How is that going to work? Particularly when charities depend on that money and different charities for both the men and the women. It's also hard to get volunteers to man the courses for a regular tournament, now you need to find volunteers for two tournaments. I don't know how you think costs would go down ... are you reducing LPGA staffers? If so, that means PGA staffers pick up the workload ... how is that going to work?

You are right about the practice round and the absolute necessity for a pro-am. The members are most courses would probably not want to have their course tied up for two straight weeks.
