Williamevanl, who was banned for some of the most caustic, abusive language I've seen in the years we've had this forum running (think everything from "The Departed" but in about 1/100th the time) came back to the forum as Avidgolfer999.

I suspected this for awhile now, and when I asked, he admitted to it. So the accounts have been merged and "Avidgolfer999" is no longer a member.

The very few people we have banned here are not allowed to create new usernames. Contrary to what a few believe, it takes a LOT to be banned here, and it usually involves a LOT of childish name-calling in PMs and emails and the like - things not often seen by the rest of the forum. Other mods and admins can attest to this, and William was one of the worst.

And the funny thing is, all that being said, if William had written and said "dude, I've grown up a bit and apologize for the things I said before" I'd have probably let him re-join. We've got better things to do here at The Sand Trap than to hold grudges (which is different than "remembering.")

I'm saying this partly to document it, partly so that anyone who may have talked to "Avidgolfer999" or quoted him wonders why his screen name appears to have changed, and partly to point out what I said in the paragraph above.

And if William signs up again, perhaps he can save himself the time and embarrassment of being caught and banned again and can instead man up, apologize, promise to behave, and re-gain access to his old account.
