walked 9 on sunday at twighlight and it was horrendous for the most part...found one fairway all day, chunked a 7 iron of the tee on a par 3 (miraculously got up and down after sticking a 3/4 pitching wedge tight). it was bad shot after bad shot, until the 9th hole, when my tee shot ended up on the in the trees, and i had 210 to the green with a tree 50 yards in front of me on line to the green. i'd been working all week on honing a big fade and found the perfect opportunity to try in on the course. started my 4 hybrid at a bunker 15 yards left of the green and put a big swing on it. it was dark at this point and couldn't see where it ended up. when i walked up to the green, i found out i had a slippery but makeable 10 footer for birdie....

it was one probably the first time i've really committed to hitting that big of a cut...normally i would have just played it safe, play a lower roller as far down the fairway as possible and take an extra shot to the green and walk away with bogey. its amazing how one shot can really turn an entire day around on a course.

You mean you actually got to hit a shot you'd been practicing on the course?!! NO WAY!! hehe j/k

It really is those types of shots that kept me coming back all those years and got me serious enough about the game to try to get good at it. I still hit one every once in a while. When I do, I still feel like a giddy little 9 year old with a new toy. :D

I see where you are coming from. All it takes for me is one awesome shot (especially if it comes toward the end of the round) to change my outlook on my play.

Glad to see you had the guts to put your practice into effect on the course... I too have worked this summer on the same issue but have only attempted it once... I guess too afraid of a double... the whole risk/reward thing. I vow not to back down on the next one... Thanks for the inspiration!
