I have been looking at these shafts but i don't know what the 5.0 and 6.0 mean like in term of how they are compared to R300, S300 and X100. I use regular shafts so which Rifle Project X shaft should i get. Would these suit the Taylormade Tour Preffered. Does anyone know or would i be best getting the R300.

Project X 5.0 and DG R300 flexes would both qualify as "regular" shafts.

Rifle Project X "produces a slightly higher launch angle and penetrating flight pattern." This means you get a little help getting the ball up initially, but it has a lower-than-average ball flight as it approaches the target. Has mid-high kickpoint (flexpoint) and tip stiffness = medium-firm.

As do most Dynamic Golds, the R300 shaft has a high kickpoint which keeps the ball lower on takeoff, and lower overall. If you have trouble ballooning the ball, this might be the one for you. Tip stiffness = firm.

The DG R300s are slightly heavier (125 grams) than the PX 5.0 shafts (115 grams).

According to clubfitters I have talked to, the PX 5.0 flex is similar to the R300 and the 6.0 to the S300. The trajectories vary, however (see above). That said, you might read some of the posts from the last couple of days. Varied opinion on comparative stiffness of these supposedly equivalent shafts.

Would suggest you try both, and compare first-hand. Rifle PX shafts are fairly common in club sets, as are the DG S300s. This is a situation when computerized clubfitting would help.

Also, look at the True Temper and Project X web sites for additional details.

Variable Stepless Design Technology Project X shafts incorporate Stepless Design Technology where each individual shaft throughout the set is comprised of a specific taper length. This unique design feature optimizes the flex distribution and energy transfer without sacrificing control. Stepless Design technology provides tip stiffness for stronger players, producing greater accuracy with a smooth yet solid feel at impact and optimum trajectory and spin control. Longer taper rates result in more energy transfer to the ball, getting the ball up faster and flattening out quicker for a penetrating trajectory and ball flight.

5.0 is like the R200 and the 5.5 would be slightly stiffer. 6.0 is the S300 and 6.5 is slightly stiffer. 7.0 is the X100.
