i suppose we all need one of these everynow and then.

Had a lesson today to work on more consistency of my ballstriking. my instruction and i decide to work on a couple "small" changes.

1) move my hand about a 1/2 inch more infront of my body on the downswing
2) slightly delay my shoulders on the downswing (e.g. let my hands finishing dropping before i make a move on the ball

the changes make complete sense and will definitely help int he long run, but boy is it painful in the interim. Had to have hit at least 50 balls which either never got more the 3 feet in the air, were topped or generally swings which i would be embaressed about.

Sounds how golf can be a game of millimeters.

Swing changes can be frustrating. I've been working on shortening mys wing for about three years now. Anytime I start hitting the ball bad my swing gets long and it just happens because it's what's been comfortable for the last 22 years. lol. The best in the game took a while to implement a swing change with Haney and he practices more than anyone, so I guess we can't expect a swing change to go smooth right off. Good luck.

I agree sometimes the littlest change can cause the worst results for sometime. I think its really important to believe in what your being taught just for that reason.

i agree. its also the reason where i tend to take lessons only in the offseason (though i may play this week, 50s in Minneapolis the week before thanksgiving).

by just practicing and not playing, there is less of a chance in my mind for bad habits to creep in.
