I was practicing with my wedges and started to play shots with the club face open and close slightly and like the results with my wedge shots and started to use these shots in my short game.

I play mostly with a slightly open face to help the ball stop faster and then it will skip slightly to the right, for right handers, I played a few 40 foot approach shots with my PW and like the results getting closer to the pin to save par or make birdies.

I need to work more with closing the club face since I missed an uphill over a mound approach shot if I only closed the club face instead of opening the results would been better in this shot.

I am currently working on using bounce of the wedges (53 / 58). I hit balls with using bounce of a gap wedge and without using bounce but I haven't tried the face open / close. I will try them.

Good plan to try out as many different types of wedge shots as you can think of. I spent a great deal of time this year working on my short game, to the point that the low cap guys all know I'm deadly around the greens. Between wedge shots and putting, it's the most effective way to shave strokes off your score.

Hit two approach shot from about 40 yards with my 52 degree wedge back in my stance with the club face slightly open and flew the ball low and checked very quickly stopping near the hole.

i only use my 52* from 100 yards in. i take a big divot with my wedge before long shots to fill the grooves with as much mud as possible

I am making solid contact and my direction is fine, but I am still working on distance control. I tend to hit my hip to hip short wedge shot with either an easy swing or a hard swing under pressure that makes the ball travel farther than I planned.

I did chip in for eagle from 30 yards from off the green, slightly open club face, using my 56 degree wedge, it bounce, checked and rolled slightly right dead center into the cut.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
