Looking at the maltby playability factor numbers, the AP1 is 765 and the Nike CCi cast iron is 579.

Are the AP1's that much easier to play than the cci cast? I thought the cci cast were more G.I. than this...

The 57's I have now are only 411.

Oh and on a side not, do the G10 irons have like rediculously big soles? I cant remember if they did or not. The raptures have gigantic soles and just wondering if the g10's do as well.

Thanks a million!

The G10 have huge soles and I can't stand looking at them. They just look like shovels. Even the i10 look to chunky for me.

Just out of curiosity, are you looking to switch irons or something like that?

I don't call the soles HUGE.

G15's have huge soles. I like the G10's Give them a go.

Actually yea, I dont know why I decided to make the game harder on myself

I want to go to a GI iron and get my HC down into the low single digits before I attempt these players irons again.

Just being humble and honest with myself. Borrowed my dads CCI cast irons just to make sure and I scored a lot better but even those arent really a true GI iron... Back into the mid 80's without leaving myself with treacherous up/down situations.

I just dont know which irons to get, hitting them into a net really doesnt help me at all so Im just gonna pick one and go with it.

So the g10's have huge soles huh, does that affect playability? How bout those ap1's or cci cast? anyone else?

Thanks Andef!

Big soles won't affect playabliaty.

Well I doubt it since those G10's have gotten great reviews. Read a few reviews. here's one for the AP1 http://thesandtrap.com/clubs/titleist_ap1_irons_review Don't buy anything until your happy with what your getting

Yea ive seen the g15 soles, so they are not like that?

Can you compare the sole of the g10 to the TM burner irons, I have a 6 iron (burner) here at the house so I'd be able to compare.

Thanks man!

How bout the other irons I wrote about?

Well I posted a pic of a g10 a few posts back.

Looks similar If you've got a problem with big soles well the nike's would be pushing it a bit here's a review http://thesandtrap.com/clubs/nike_cci_cast_irons_review and here's a pic

I have my dads cci's in my bag right now, those soles are not big at all. The burner's soles are bigger....

Just wondering if the g10 soles are comparable to the burner, and it seems like it is.....

any comparison for g10 to the cci cast??

MPF says the g10 is much easier to play...??

Thanks!

I think you are putting too much stock in the size of the soles. Go hit a bunch and pick the one that works.

Yep-clubs are clubs. There are numerous factors that determine whether or not you like hitting a certain club. I would take actually hitting the irons over MPF 100 times out of 100.

you think hitting into a net would tell me anything though?

The soles help to not dig in the green and provide a MOI that is moved a bit away from the face. I personally love the G10s but you should definitely try a bunch out and see what works best for your game.

i hit the ap1 a few months back and they're really nice clubs. very forgiving, long and launch very high. they don't look to big at address but i liked the ap2s better so i went with those. you can also hit some draws and fades with them. the main reason i went with the ap2 (apart from looks and playability) is because i was hitting a draw with the AP1s and the AP2s flew dead straight. I don't like too much offset in my irons but that same offset makes clubs like the G10, Ap1 and CCi easier to hit.

Look at the pictures and decided for yourself.

Big soles help. Mightn't look great but they help give a higher launch and help stop you hitting fat shots.

Mizuno is introducing new technology with their JPX One fairway woods and drivers. The new tech for golf but used tech for Mizuno since it is found in their baseball side of the business, is Nanoalloy. Nanoalloy is a microscopic polymer layer put on the face of their titanium driver. What this layer does is change the elasticity of the driver face and increases ball speed over a larger area of the clubface. Adding a bit more elasticity with this layer, they are conserving the golf balls energy from the impact.  Due to USGA rules, this technology falls under their coating regulations. Which add a correction factor to the ball speed testing done for conforming golf clubs. This rule was introduced when Taylormade went to their carbon clubface. Which I didn't know existed.  I am sure that center strikes are at the USGA limits like all other drivers. This has my interest. I am always, "window shopping", for new golf equipment 😉
