I have had the good fortune to play Doonbeg in County Clare on numerous occasions and my enjoyment level of the course has increased each time I have played it.

I would highly recommend it if you are planning a trip to the west coast of Ireland. If you can afford it the Lodge is second to none.

Here is a link to some pictures I took earlier this year in the second week in October.

Have you played Doonbeg and what are your thoughts?

It's expensive to play compared to the other courses around.
I havn't played there myself because of the price.

Same as that. Was down that neck of the woods two months ago, was hoping to play it but honestly just couldn't afford it.One of Norman's best maybe?Although it's hard to go wrong with natural landscape like that.

A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

I have played Doonbeg on two different trips. Been to Ireland many times. Doonbeg while nice is overpriced. There are many better options. If not for Norman's influence they were going to reconstruct the course. Lahinch nicer and much history there. Head North to Carne. It will make you forget Doonbeg exists at 1/3rd the cost. Having played 60+/- courses in Ireland with vast majority being Links, I'd put Doonbeg in my top 20 maybe.....Lodge is over the top. But just my opinion.
