I was at the range once again today, and I was doing better. I focused on having a more inside swing path, but I STILL had a stinkin fade going on at me... Whenever I tried to really go inside or turn the face over, I ended up chunking the ball -.-

Should I just keep working on taking it inside, or what?

Oh also - can taking the club more inside also affect the swing plane? Like could it make it flatter?

1st of all congratulation for being a single handicap golfer at age 15 years old. My son just turned 15 but he shoots in the high eighties.

If you want to eliminate the slight fade you can try a few things:

1) stronger grip
2) focus on taking the club back hip high with the toe pointing up and at the follow thru with the toe up and the club closed
3) watch the line you are taking the club back on and try different version of taking the club inside and see what works best for your swing, you can practice this short swing with your wedges.
4) You can also try closing the club slightly at address

Remember that you want to be able to fade the ball into hard greens to help it stop faster once it hits the green, so keep your fade and use it during the round of golf along with your straight and draw ball.

All good advice above.

A few things I would add are:

when you practice, hits balls with your feet together - this gives you a good sensation of releasing the club.

Another thing youcan do to ensure you attack the ball from the inside (again, practice this first) is to address the ball at the heal before take away - Vijay Singh and Luke Donald do this in regular play too.

Good luck!

    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter

    • Nothing exposes low point control, and for that matter the general quality of ball striking like tight lies. Lol! I am at a crossroad. My days of playing with a super strong left hand grip are coming to an end it seems. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to maintain proper face control through impact as the club face naturally wants to turn over. The quality of strike and ball flight difference when I weaken the grip is stark. Problem is a weaker grip is at odds with my poor sore left forearm which I have been nursing for last few days after 3 days of demanding golf. As of now I will continue my 'transition' to a weaker grip with woods and hopefully my forearm will condition as I go along. Maybe someday I'll get to a normal address with irons too.
