Was curious if anyone was familiar with any southern california (orange county) golf courses that had good unlimited golf packages available?

I've so far found 3 courses that offer them however 2 of them are a little more than I wanted to spend (at least right now) and the other one I'll have to check out the course and see how it is.

Here is what I've found so far

Shorecliffs Golf Club - San Clamente, CA
They offer a monthly unlimited golf package that runs $239.00 a month.
I may seriously consider this one but want to go checkout the course first. Also want to wait tell we get past next weeks rain and a little closer to summer.

Oak Creek Golf Club - Irvine, CA
They offer a year unlimited golf membership for $5000.00
While I would love to take advantage of this and have heard its a rather nice course spending 5k right now might not be the best idea.

Talega, San Clamente, CA
They offer a year package for $6000.00
Again looks like an amazing course and I'll be playing here in 2 weeks but a little more than I wanted to spend.

Oh yeah and Monarch Beach
They also offer a package for $5000.00/year
Just like the previous 2 but I've also heard their course really isn't worth the price either.

I'll let you decide for yourself, but I don't think Shorecliffs is worth a lot of your money. The best way to describe the course would be to say this: they put together in the housing and then they squeezed a golf course in there. Slow greens and rock hard, tight fairways [on most holes]; not maintained real well. Quality wise, it's equivalent to Casta Del Sol in Mission Viejo

Shorecliffs almost always has $25 tee times (with cart, sometimes with range balls) on sites like C4TT. I haven't played in about a year, and it isn't a bad course, but it isn't worth joining. I haven't played since the new owner, so it might be better now. There are holes that demand accuracy off the tee and others that give bombers a distinct advantage. The first par-5 I ever hit in two was on that course ("was" : it's now a par-4). Depending on what you're working on, and how often you'd play, it might be worth $239 for one month to see how often you'd "use" your membership elsewhere. For example, if you think you'll be playing daily, even if it's only 6 holes, it might be worth that.

Talega is a fantastic course. Go enjoy it. The forward tees are playable for just about anyone, and the tips provide a good challenge for good golfers (or so I've heard. I haven't stepped back that far, nor will I for a while). The greens are in great shape. The fairways are in great shape, and the rough is playable while still providing an advantage to the player who stays in the short grass. Even the bunkers are typically in great shape. There are two great risk-reward par-5s and an interesting risk-reward par-3. If I had to pick three courses (from the list of those courses I've played in the past), and could only play those for the rest of my life, Talega would be one of the three. On the other hand, I can't imagine I'd spend $500/month there, even if I lived nearby and played only there. There are online deals pretty often. I played X-Mas eve for $40 or so.

Oh: for both courses, take spare balls. They both have plenty of ways to lose them in the course of play. There's a reason that the Shorecliffs pro-shop sells (or at least used to sell) "experienced" balls for a buck a pop.

Questions you should ask yourself, and possibly answer here: How often do you plan to play? How often will you be practicing? Are there any other things you're looking for in a membership? There might be good alternatives to a membership in Orange County that might cost less and provide you with the same - or maybe better - playing situation.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Well the situation is that after today I'll be out of work for the next couple of months. Unfortunately the economy has finally caught up to me and I'm being laid off.

Luckily I'm in an ok situation financially so my plan is to enjoy a few months worth of golf. If all goes as planned I'm hoping to play at least 4-5 times a week. I'm new the game actually so I really want to spend some time working on things.

I may have to get out and try the shorecliffs course. I've heard from a few people who have played it recently and it sounded as though the new management company has really done a good job and improved the course.

My one problem with a membership like this was playing the same course daily. However being able to just pay one flat fee and play as often as I liked would save me a ton of money. I have way too many expensive courses in my area so playing daily could get extremely expensive. I live right next to aliso creek gc so monarch beach and pelican are my other local courses. I'm not doing that good financially haha

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
