When i swing my driver or woods i have a full swing. But I never hit a full swing iron shot. Everything is 3/4 swing. Is this bad or should i just continue to keep doing what i do. I'm very accurate with my irons but i dont have alot of distance.

I used to have the same problem. To fix it, I used my same exact slice, that is critical, so you don't mess up your accuracy. Keep your arms straight, and just swing as hard as you can. Kill the ball. Ive heard golf experts say you dont want to do this, but I do, and I increased my drive by about 75 yards.

Do you struggle with not reaching on the course? What are your distances with the irons?

I'm an advocate of accuracy, so unless you got a problem with distance, I say stick to the 3/4. You could probably increase distance better by working on tempo, timing, improving contact, better weight transfer, lower trajectory or changing brand of ball. It is very easy to go too far when trying to get more distance, messing up the swing.

Have you ever recorded your swing speed?

If you are hitting quality shots is doesn't matter. I believe accuracy is the most important thing and if you can hit it more consistantly I see no reason to change. I personally use the same swing with a full finish with all my clubs but what works for me might not work for you.

    • Day 12: did the yardstick putting drill for a bit while watching tv.
    • Hole 6, 185 uphill par 3, wind out of the right. I hit a 7 iron to 5-FT left of the pin. The ball landed about 185.5 yards. I drained the putt for a birdie, and most likely a skin.  2nd place is more of a best swing made. 110 yard wedge shot, where I did what I wanted in the back swing and downswing.  I hit a 75% partial wedge 95%. It was flushed, flighted, and beautiful to watch fly over the green. 🤣. I will need to redial in the wedges sometime. Since I am making an effort to make my former 3/4 swing length my full swing length.
    • Is that like "the longest yardstick you can find"? I don't have Airtags but I'd call all of them Airtags too.!
    • Yea, that makes sense.  I remember an Open tournament when they brought out the wind meter one day because balls were being blown around the green. I think it was 45+ sustained, which probably means 60 mph gusts.  I think for the most part, it isn't something that needs to be taken into account.  Also, a golf ball is designed to optimally move through the air. It has better aerodynamics than a sphere.  Thanks for your expertise on this. That makes sense. I know about how wind diminishes the lower in height you go. I didn't know it went near zero at the ground. I deal more with tall structures (utility poles), and we have to take into account height and impacts of wind on the pole. A bit of experience, but wasn't sure how close to zero, non-impactful it was on the golf ball on the ground.
    • Day 2 (7 Aug 25) - More work on tempo with mid-irons, moved to wedges for the balance of the drill.
