hi,

im 26, and from Anglesey, N.Wales. Ive recently started playing golf again after a break of a few years. I was a greenkeeper for 4yrs (1997-2001) on a links course, during that time and for a few years after i stopped playing, as seeing the course every day with work was enough for me. Ive recently joined 3 different societies so I can play a variety of courses, and having had a week off work last week i used that time to play 4 courses in my area, all courses were new to me. I played quite well and am looking forwards to my next outing tomorow(got to go and do a 12hr night shift now though! )

hope to chat to y'all soon

Welcome to the trap.

What kind of work is it a greenkeeper on british links course? I thought you guys let the elements rule the game, no sprinkler systems, etc ok, ok, I'm the first one to fall for it. What's up with that signature ?

Welcome to the trap.

Hi mate, the course i worked on was in the process of putting in a sprinkler system when i left, in the summer there was hardly any grass on the fairways as a couple of days of sun would burn the grass. In the winter is where you'd see the difference, when other courses would be closed or unplayable due to waterlogging it would barely affect a links. Here is a link tothe course's website-http://www.angleseygolfclub.co.uk/

Its the first line of the welsh national anthem, and it means-

'mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi' 'the old land of my fathers is dear to me' kip

    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
