i looks a bit like the R9 460 so it should be good on that fact possibly but the R9 460 is definitely recommended

I tried it, and absolutely loved it. The Matrix shaft is the bomb.
Unfortunately it was still too expensive at the time, so I went for the superquad instead.

I am constantly checking if I can get one for cheap somewhere.

In my Tour Combo Bag:

Driver: Superquad 9.5°
5W: 2008 Burner 18°
3H: Idea Pro Gold 20°4H: 2008 Burner Rescue 22°Irons: MP52 R300 5-PWedges: Vokey SM 50.08, 54.11, 58.04, 60.11Putter: Itsy Bitsy SpiderBall: TP Red

I have TP version of this driver and absolutely love the feel off the face. I haven't been able to find another driver that has the same feel. I have the Fujikura stiff shaft in it, but I'm not sure if it is the right shaft for me. I'm thinking about getting custom fit for a proper shaft.

DO IT!!!!!

This is a great driver. I just got it about two weeks ago, and I just simply love it. The sound, the looks, and the price!!!! just amazing!!!!!!

I switched from a r7 CBG Max, which I was getting ready to drop a NV-65R shaft on it, but found the r7 Limited. The club is very nice and effective. I increased my average yards by 15, and had my personal best fairways hit (8/14), previously I averaged about 5 to 6 per 14. It helped me correct my slice considerably. ( I think a product of the shaft of the CBG). I was playing in 20mph winds, and still managed to keep the ball in play due to the lower launch angles. That was exactly what I was looking for on the new shaft.

Bottom line see if you can hit at your local shop, see if you like it. I got mine a golf galaxy for $150...Can't beat that!!!
It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

I like the head, but the R flex Matrix shaft in a 10.5* head didn't work for me. Switched to a 10.5* r9 and it is much more consistent and more versatile. I normally hit a fade, but sometimes pull it dead left. Setting the r9 to N/R has taken the pulls out so far. Now, if I could completely remove the occasional big honking slice that goes exit stage right, I'd be set...

Does anyone know where i can get a good deal on one preferably under 150

I'm not sure what you are looking for in terms of loft or shaft, but there are some areas to find this driver. Used, you can find them for under your $150 number.

http://www.taylormadegolfpreowned.co...n=gglbase-tmpo That only comes in regular shaft flex. GlobalGolf.com also has some used ones and depending on the setup you want, the price/condition varies: http://www.globalgolf.com/product/go...d=1014548&gd;=3 Golfsmith has it brand new as a clearance item for $200 with all the options regarding loft and shaft flex. http://www.golfsmith.com/ps/products/TM7600 Hope this helps...

I was asking the same questions this past fall - I had been working a 9.5* TourBurner with a Grafalloy Blue Stiff shaft, and had slowly started pulling further and further left. I went to an R9 and played it neutral, which cleeaned up my path back to a nice push draw, but I wasnt as happy with the feel off the face. I hit a buddy's R7 Limited and absolutely LOVED the feel and distance was improved, so I went and found an R7 Limited TP with a senior flex shaft on the cheap in a 10.5* - I swapped in a stiff UST V2 shaft, and Im back to a clean push draw with an added 10 yds or so over my TourBurner, and the cleanest feel Ive had from a driver in a while.

I found mine at Golfsmith for $139, as they were competing with a local sale price from Sports Authority, but they arent usually that cheap. I agree with watching the online outlets for a used or demo version, but make sure its one of the major reputable folks as I just dealt with an ebay seller on a Scotty and got burned with a fake...

What I play:

R7 Limited, UST V2
Burner 3W, Rifle ULF
Tour 3H-4H, Rifle ULF RAC MB 5-PW, Rifle ULF 54*, 58*, TP Smoke wedges Black Pearl Studio Select 1.5 ProV1 or TP Red LDP

I have a question here about getting a different shaft. I have never been fitted for a driver nor a shaft for a driver. I have always played with a shaft that came with the driver I had. How would I go about getting fitted for a proper shaft? I would like to keep my R7 Limited TP driver head, but how would I be able to get fitted for the right shaft to go along with my driver? I would think that I need to play use the driver head I have now with various different driver shafts to figure my optimal performance, but how would I be able to achieve this without disassembling my driver from its current shaft?

Bottom line ....you can't!

Go to a Pro and get fitted, they should have the proper equipment to understand what you are doing in your swing, and help identify what will work for you. As for the perfect shaft/head combination, you will never be 100% sure unless you spend a good bit of money. Here's what I did: 1. Define what I wanted to get out of the shaft (more control and a higher kick point) 2. Researched shaft specs that matched the basic characteristics that I wanted. (I went to Titleist (good resource for research), Aldila, Matrix, Graphaloy, UST, etc websites for specs) 3. Went to talk to a pro, get his/her input (confirmed my research with him) 4. Tested drivers with those shafts in place and see what the results were (testing fell and accuracy) 5. Dumped my old driver for an entirely new on one The reason for #5 is that I like using the r7CBG Max head (I like it at address), the shaft on this driver was 45g Regular, and the loft was 10.5*. Even with the weight setup for draws, I was slicing heavily. I felt I had no accuracy with my driver. I had also lost about 20 yards from a previous TM Burner counterfeit driver (avg 250/ long 280). I researched the shaft that I wanted and realized that it would be cheaper to buy the r7 Limited with the Matrix shaft, than to take the chance with the r7 CBG Max head....$150 cheaper!!!!! I tested several r7 Limited configurations 9.5* Stiff, 9.5* Reg, 10.5 Stiff, and 10.5* Reg, and the best setup for me was the 9.5* Reg. With this driver I was able to get my spec in the range or vicinity of where I wanted to be, so with a little more work I can improve to fit those specs. As a result, on my first outing I Averaged and additional 10 Yards, and hit my highest ration of fairway hits ever (8/14)...This was huge for me! I also need to mention that I was playing in 20 mph winds...I should have been kiting instead of golfing.... Bottom Line, this is the best driver that I have hit. It is dead straight, gives you back a few yards, and it (like the CBG) allows to adjust the weight to correct what ever you are dealing with that day. Cheers!

Thanks for all the help. I'm looking for reg flex 10.5 right handed if anyone has one to sell used and i'm gonna keep checking online

Global Golf have some available. They also have free shipping on orders $99 and over for Valentine's Day. I would love to pick one up, but I have to sell off some others first.

  • 1 month later...
I got one a few months ago from Golfsmith online for $199...best deal i've ever gotten on a driver of this quality. I used to play a R flex 10.5 in my old Nike driver. The driver I picked up from Golfsmith is a stiff shaft 10.5 degree. I think my increase in swing speed as I've improved has something to do with this, but also the Matrix shaft has a lower kick point, so the Stiff shaft tends to perform similarly to a regular shaft in a lot of other drivers. I agree with everything that everyone else has said though...the head is awesome, the shaft is beyond epic, and the price is just unbeatable. I believe that TGW.com also has them, but their selection of shafts and lofts is a bit more limited than Golfsmith.com. Good luck.

    • Day 21 - Good session with driver and 6i. Hitting real golf balls is quite a bit different from the foam balls, still getting used to that change.
    • There are so many videos comparing and contrasting everything that I am both overwhelmed and more than a bit skeptical. Your comments above are much more valuable than hours of you-tube videos. Generally speaking, I’d much prefer to read something that someone took the time and trouble to write (such as your comments) than a bunch of videos, or worse, meaningless reviews that seem like they are all cut and paste selections of the same script. I’m more of a RTFM type than a watcher of “instructional” videos. By way of explanation, I don’t watch TV either.  So thanks - I’ll take that under advisement. I have an H3 that I bought for $10 that I’ve been carrying around but not sure why. Seems like a cool club, but I just don’t really know what to do with it.
    • I was using the window as a mirror. Just trying to be a more aware of the feels for a better backswing. Trying to not be as closed from A1 to A2. Then not letting the club head flip inside. What I was feeling was a pressure my right wrist, and like the palm of my right hand was pushing upward against the grip of the club. My right hand was the underside of the swing path.  Going to play around with this a bit more. It looked pretty decent with mirror/window work. Just wanted to jot it down.
    • Day 4: 3/26/25 Par4Success workout followed by putting through 50 mm gates.
    • Day 249: did a stack putting session and then worked on 5 foot putts for a bit.
