My "official" handicap is 21.
But that's because the guy who does the junior handicaps didn't put in my scores last year.

I want to enter a tournament but I need to be under handicap 16 to enter it.
Registration ends at the end of april.

Here's my options and maybe some of you could add a couple/give feedback.
1. Try enter some mens competitions to get my handicap (Normally only handicap 14 and below juniors can play in them)
2. Try get a new handicap. (bring in 3 scorecards) not sure if I can do that since I've already got one.
3. Don't enter the competition and wait another month and get my handicap cut when the junior tourney's start again.

usually as you turn in scorecards, or submit them online, they alter your handicap. i would continue playing and submitting cards to try and bring your handicap down.

Driver: Titleist 909 D2 9.5*
Fairway: Wood Nike Sasquatch 15*
Hybrid: Titleist 585 21*
Irons: AP2 4 - PW

But I can't turn in scorecards that's the problem.

The junior competitions havn't started yet and I'm running out of time.

yeah must be different over on that side of the pond. i can submit scores at any time and it continuously updates my handicap. it seems like you can play a couple rounds and get a new handicap.

In the UK and I system, the handicap calculation works differently. I assume the OP means that his junior comp scores were considered ineligible for an adult handicap.

I think the best options are to enter some adult competitions and/or to ask the handicap secretary whether a cut under general play (allowed in this system) is possible.

Do you have the score records from last year? If yes, you may be able to make an appeal to the governing body (thats assuming your scores actual reflect that your handicap is lower).

I'm not sure if you mean the junior comps don't count for your official h/c.
If they do however, you need to keep a record of your own h/c, ie adjust it each time you play, if you are getting cut that is. You can't hand in 3 cards again as you already have a handicap from last year.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
