A buddy and I hit some Callaway irons (X Prototype and X Forged) with Project X 6.0 shafts at a demo day and launched them much higher than usual. The demo people couldn't give us an explanation.

I have TT R300 shafts in my irons and my friend S300. So, I was wondering if it's possible the stiffer shaft caused the higher trajectory since the club head wouldn't be as far behind at impact?

No, the proj shafts are higher launching then the TTDG you are hitting here. Also the S300's were probobly less stiff than the proj x 6.0, as s300 frequency out to about 5.8

gotta love the x prototypes!

They were flighted, which I thought meant the irons shorter than 5I are suppose to launch lower. But that wasn't the case as we hit PW, 8I, and 6I.

While the shots felt harder off the club face, the higher and penetrating trajectory is something I've seem only in the really low handicappers. If I can get that kind of trajectory with just the shaft, it would definitely be a worthwhile investment.

However, I would like to make sure that it's the shaft and not the club, especially when it's counter intuitive that a stiffer shaft would launch the ball higher.

Went to Golf Smith and they didn't know why we hit those clubs higher. Let's make things more confusing....
