Yesterday, I broke the shaft in my 2009 Burner driver. I have a couple options that I can do, but I'm not sure what I should do.

1. I can purchase a Cleveland Hi-Bore XLS stiff shaft driver from a friend for $60
2. I can purchase a new shaft for my Burner and hit it.
3. Another friend of mind has a UST shaft out of a Nickent Driver that he said he will give me, and I can put that in my burner and hit it.

What should I do? I'm not in the market to buy a brand new driver right now. I've hit a Hi-bore xls a few times over the last month or so, and I really like it. I feel like I hit it straighter than my burner, but maybe a little shorter. I've had a lot of good rounds with my Burner, and I really like it as well.

Thoughts?

Check to see if the manufacture will replace the shaft free of charge. I would call the store you bought it from and ask them or go on line and give Taylor Made a call directly.

I would buy the Hi-Bore XLS for $60 and like ks8829 said, try to get it replaced for free. If not grab the UST shaft and try it in your Burner, then see which one you like best. But that's just me.

I was really thinking about picking up the Cleveland and putting the UST in the burner and hitting them both on the range and seeing what I hit better, then sell the other.

I don't think they'll replace the shaft because of the way it broke. A friend of mine wasn't paying attention and stepped on it on the tee box after I dropped. Freak thing, probably wouldn't happen again in a thousand tries.

If it broke 4 inches from the head or handle they should replace it, but you should get a real shaft especially for the driver, your burnner came with a " made for " shaft most likely, so now is the chance for you to play with a better shaft and improve your drives

I assume this is a UST Proforce V2? If so, excellent shaft and should work well with your Burner. I'd throw the shaft in it and see how it feels, then decide if you want to keep it.

Its worth a call, even if they say no, at least you gave it a try. you will always wonder, especially if friends have the same experience and you find out the manufacturer replaced the club free to charge. I once wore out the white material from a two ball putter and gave them a call and they send me a brand new putter.

I think I'm going to give them a call and just see what they say. Your right, the worst they could say is no, and them I'm still where I am now.

I'm going to put the UST in there and see how I like it. Yes, it is the ProForce V2. I'm going to at least spend a little time with it, and see if I like it.

Quick question, since the shaft was on the Nickent 4DX with CYG, will I still be able to put it in my Burner?

Well, I found out the UST shaft won't work in my driver, or at least that's what I'm told by the friend of mine that was giving it to me. So now that leaves me with the dilemma of whether to buy the Cleveland or put a new shaft in my burner.

I think I'm leaning towards the burner right now, but need help with what shafts to look at. Any starting ideas?
