Forgive me if these have been posted before, or you already knew about sites / stories, but I've found them interesting, inspirational and very helpful... in that order.

The first one is about a South African chap called Richard Asher who has set himself the challenge of getting to scratch and then playing the Masters in a couple of years. He's currently a 20 handicap...
You can track his progress at his website; http://mygreenjacket.com/wordpress/
He manages to get advice from famous pros on his challenge (most of whom telling him to concentrate his efforts on the short game and putting).

If you're skeptical that the above can't possibly be done, you should read up on a Northern Irishman by the name John Richardson. A couple of years ago he was scoring in the 100s. He set himself the challenge of playing his local course to par within a year. He actually did it, but on the way quit his job, almost ruined his marriage and was en route to a nervous breakdown. He wrote a book on his experience called "Dream On"

(that's the UK Amazon link, I'm not sure its available on the other side of the pond)
John has a website where he posts videos on tips and information that helped him the most..
http://breakparblueprint.com/blog/
The first few chapters of his book can be read on his website.

The final site is by a retired doctor called Jeffery Mann. He took it upon himself to study the golf swing using his scientific background. It's well worth a look if you've tried to read through The Golfing Machine and found yourself confused. Dr Mann has also posted a few instructional videos on YouTube (they're well over an hour long, so not for the faint-heated).

I am a 9 handicap, was a 11 2008 and 2007 and drop 2 shot last year to current 9, I plan on playing qualification later in october for the national tour here.
I plan to loose 9 shots before august and my course opens up end of may/early June as I live way off any summer.
If all goes to plan I be qualifying for the european tour next year.

I am currennly 46 years old.
;)

Its doable, just not easy.
