If you're looking for only one club to fill that gap, I'd get either a 4 or 5 wood. I'd try out the Ping G15 and Rapture V2 woods (or G15 hybrid if you decide to go the 2 hybrid route). All are very forgiving, long, and just easy to hit.

      I was thinking of finally getting a real handicap.   I've kept scores and calculated an unofficial handicap for many years.   When I went to the Golf Association of Michigan website, I didn't see any virtual clubs.   I emailed GAM, and they responded that the only option was the clubs listed, which did not include virtual clubs.   Are virtual clubs no longer eligible for membership in the USGA?

      Day 8: 5/14/2025 Played 9 holes today for the Wednesday Night League.  I played probably the worst I've played in a long time. In fairness, the course was pretty water-logged and the grass was super high and super thick everywhere.
