Sorry for the long time to reply. FIrst off, I dont have that big of a yard. I hit from the side of the front yard to the far corner of the back yard, I feel safe hitting like this with the house kind of in front of me, but it is to my left. I have yet to pull hook a wedge 20 yards out and 20 yards left.
I also did not mean I thought long irons were easier. I probably got lucky, or grooved a good tempo like some have said. I do think that 7,8,9, irons are much easier than my 56 tho.
To answer the question about why I was hitting full sw shots, it is because I cant hit anything longer in my yard. Even the with the 56, if I caught it just right, it would carry off the back into the trees.
Maybe it is lack of confidence with it, but when I stand over the shot, all I seem to focus on is the sharp leading edge. It appears to be just waiting to cut my ball in half.

Have you tried hitting a 56 degree wedge with more or less bounce than your current club? If your wedge has a large bounce angle it is harder to hit off grass.

Not necessarily. It depends on the type of swing and type of course youre playing on. But 9 times out of 10, bounce is your friend.

Titleist Vokey Wedges - 52 & 58 | Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 Putter | ProV1 Ball

First of all, a 2 iron should not be easier to hit than a sand wedge. I would guess you have a pretty flat swing plane lending itself to hitting longer irons off the deck easier and bringing the wedges bounce into play much more causing inconsistent strikes.
