I currently play a Nike SQ Dymo 9.5 loft with a stiff stock shaft. Thinking it's time to get a new driver and wanted to get a driver that is adjustable. I'm really digging the R9 Supetri, looks like a driver I can definitely keep using without buying a new driver every year and a half. Before I decide to pull the gun on this driver, I heard it was a high launch and high spin driver. The SQ dymo is a high launch and mid spin driver. I wouldn't mind a slightly lower launch so I'm thinking of getting the Supertri in 8.5 loft with a stiff flex. I figure if it still turns out to be a little too much spin for me, I can get another shaft to bring down the spin in X flex and just screw it on there since it has the FCT.
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I don't like the SuperTri at all. The sound and feel.
I went to a fitting night for taylormade spent about 1 hour with the rep.

I started hitting some golf balls, we ended up with a 7.5 and there low spinning, low launch golf shaft and I was still hitting the driver very high. I asked him if my swing was to blame and he vid'ed me and watched it and could not find a reason, he said the driver would need a custom shaft after I brought the driver to work proply for me.

He apolgised to me and we went out seperate ways, yesterday i tried the Vr tour driver 8.5 and love it, great flight and was pleaseing to the eye! I sugest you also look at this driver. Ping g15 and I15 and the callaway FT tour are also to good clubs, I would look at these!

My buddy hit the SuperTri with a Diamana Whiteboard X-flex and a 8.5 degree head and was launching it really high. After that he tried the Vr Tour Str-8 fit with a 9.5 head and a stiff Aldila Voodoo and the ball was flying a lot lower so he settled for that one. We both thought that the SuperTri flew way too high with too much spin which was proved right when we took it out on the course.

I heard the spin and launch are similar to the R9 460. Is this true? Which I've hit in a 8.5 loft with a stiff flex and I liked it but I didn't buy the 460 because it only had the FCT and was told the supertri would be out soon.

My brother has the R9 TP 8.5 deg driver, he hits nearly 300+ yards! this is still one of the best driver Taylormade do at this point in time.anyway, Taylormade are brining out a new driver called the superdeep. This is the latest model of the successful 510TP. but is a whole lot better! the price is going to be about £400. I might have a go at it and see how it goes.

Also the Superdeep is more of a workable driver, therefore more distance!

Yea but the superdeep in the U.S. will cost 600-700 dollars. That's alot of money for a driver.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
