The manufacturer clearly states thatthe mp52's are the most forgiving in the line. That is the correct answer. I have been playing Ping i3's for 11 years and just bought the Mp-52's a couple weeks ago. I am regretting the purchase but will likely stick with the new clubs. They are 5-6 yards shorter than the pings and the pings are not strong lofted like the newer game improvement irons. Both have 47 degree PW. The biggest difference is in the turf interaction. The Ping will not lose much distance at all if you hit SLIGHTLY fat, where the mp52's dig into the turf and give no grace. As I get older, the last thing i want is to lose distance by technology. Father time is doing a good enough job of that as it is.

I currently play MP-52s. I chose them over MP-58s because I thought they were marginally more forgiving on toe hits but you'll be punished if you aren't in the general vicinity of the sweetspot with any of the less "blade-like" MPs (50, 57, 52, 58). Of these, I used to play 57s before swapping out for 52s. I found them similar but the sole was slightly more forgiving on the 52s if you're inclined to dig or hit fat.

My vote would be for the MP-52 #1, MP-57 #2, MP-58 #3 and MP-60 #4. I will add that fitting and shafts make even more of a distance with less SGI-like clubs and lie angle is especially critical.

I tried the entire MP-series line when I bought my irons over a year ago (When they still made the 57's and 67's). The MP-57 (now MP-58) and MP-52 were the most forgiving of the bunch, but you are correct that the MP-52 is a bit more forgiving. The only noticable difference (and the one thing that makes them more forgiving) is that they have more weight at the bottom of the clubhead and are easier to get the ball up in the air. Because of this, I hit them too high and lost distance as a result. The MP-57 gave me all the same forgiveness but helped me keep the penetrating ballflight I wanted.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
