My driver is recking my game...

I started playing golf on a 54 par 3 golf course,i always shot in the low 70's and my best was 65..

Since ive moved on to a bigger course 64 par parkland course im shooting in the mid 90's...

and its mostly down to bad drives...

ive seemed to straighten out my driver fade when i do hit a good one,but yesterday i topped about 5 drives

what causes a topped drive?,my golf buddies say i lean back before impact, moving my spine angle further away from the ball...
also any tips on more power?? im only hitting about 200/220...

thanks for any tips, sorry about yet another driver thread..

lol, just checking. I know when I was young I couldnt hit far. Just keep practicing and perfecting your swing and your hits wil get farther. If not start lifting weights.

Keep your swing slow and smooth. Probably heard this before but keep your head down and your knees bent. I have a slower swing compared to most but I still outdrive most I play with, around 280 yards. I think a lot of disance is more contact then how hard you swing.

TW - If you're topping a lot, then maybe your 200-220 drives are just have a low launch angle. Consider a launch monitor session? It's probably the swing, not your 10.5* Once you sort out your swing you'll find some more yards I bet. Good luck my friend.

PS - will you pass me your little black book?

Swing - Mulligan - Repeat

TW - what is your actual handicap or average score for a round?

Also, how long have you been playing and what is your shot pattern?

    • Day 3 - mirror swings/drills after my workout. Two seemingly good feels for me: feel like as the club reaches the top the weight of it/momentum of it pointing left initiates my "fall" into the lead side. Helps initiate the re-centering and some of the pressure shift. The second feel is like: as soon as the re-centering is over, begin to lighten the trail foot by feeling like my right knee in the beginning of the downswing essentially replaces where my left knee was at the top. This helps halt my sometimes ludicrous slide and greatly helps me get open.
    • Day 48 (17 Jun 25) - Into the net work today with the 5i - focus remains on the setup and proper weight shift.  Was not a perfect session as several were very heavy along with a couple of thin boys.  Finished up the day with a few pitches with the 52 (last set of 5 hitting to about 40 yds had 4 of the 5 in a 5’ circle (now if I could just do that on the course) - the errant one was a total mishit).
    • Day 260 - 2025-06-17 Played seven holes before it started thundering and then raining. Some good. Simpler.
    • Oh so that's how it's going to be. .... And to think I was going let you get away with wearing a white belt this weekend.
