Are the length of your irons more about a club fitting or personal preference (to a certain extent). I ask because I am only 5' 9" and just got my MP 52s (used) and they are around .75 over standard. I just got back from the range and hit some really nice shots after with a couple of fat shots mixed in. Thoughts?

Your're only 5'9"? My God!!! Try being 5'6"! I use standard length clubs, but should be using 1/2" shorter. What you get out of longer clubs is a longer swing path. A longer swing path = distance. A longer swing path also equates to the probabilty of pulling or pushing shots. I choose to remain with standard because I will never make the pro circuit anyway.

Have you had your lie checked? At 5'9'' .75 over sounds a bit long, and this will affect lie for you. Length is a factor of height and wrist to floor measurements, however. I'm 6'1'' and I play a 3 degree upright, 1/2'' long set.

Yeah, I wanted to get the lie checked for sure. Could an adjustment there be all I really need since I am hitting them pretty well. And to the other post, long does = distance haha...between the extra length, a better iron, and a graphite/steel hybrid shaft I am definitely hitting my irons farther (I would approx. 10-15 yards)

If the lie is off, it will be the best $50 you've spent. I bought my irons (standard lie) from my swing coach and the difference before and after a lie adjustment was remarkable. Does your shot by chance bias right to left with the new irons?

No, it actually doesn't which is why I am thinking I may be okay. With my old clubs I had the lie checked and was told I was standard or possibly 1* up for those clubs and I would push those. However, these are a stiff graphite/steel hybrid shaft vs. no name regular steel shafts.

Good deal man. Go have someone do a dynamic fitting with a lie board to be sure. Hope you enjoy those sweet mizunos!

Thanks. I can't wait to play a lot this summer, establish an official handicap, and then lower it haha.
