I made an educated buy because I couldnt test the ft-5 first. At 100.00 its not that much of a gamble. Most people recommended the burners, I could only check out the 09 burner and wasnt impressed. I dont like the g15 that much so I didnt go for the g10 plus I couldnt find one that easy. Ive always liked callaways drivers, my current driver is the great big bertha so I looked at the ft-9 driver. I thought it was a decent driver after hitting. I read around alot of read that the ft-5 is liked more than the ft-9. I went and looked at the golf digest hot list around 2008 and the ft-5 was the top gold one and picked as editors choice out of them all. hmmm cant be that bad.

I didn't like the G15 either.

really. Have you ever hit the ft-5?

No, sorry, but I've heard it's a keeper.

When the time comes, I'll probably replace my G10 with another just like it - if I can find one.

well the guy questioning my buy got me thinking of trying the g10 so I went to my local driving range that had a g10 and also a f-5, lol luckily. So I got to hit them side by side. I was surprised, I loved the f-5 and hit it better than the g10. Only thing that's a little weird is the sound, got used to it though and for real I couldn't put the f-5 down. I think the f-5 was a tour model though cause it was 9.5 degrees. Before this I was thinking of canceling my order if I liked the g10. Glad I got to hit the f-5 as well. It's a keeper, very accurate

i had called first though and asked if they had a f-5 too and they said they only had the g10. so I was looking around before going out to the range with the g10 and a f-5 headcover caught my eye. take off the headcover and bam theres a f-5, cant find them anywhere around here to try out. They had it priced at 420.00 but they had all the old models priced really high as well. Like the g10 they had at like 260.

I may have to check out used F5s when it's time - the only thing I don't like about the PING is the sound.

When I was comparing them the shaft of the g10 is a little longer, like an inch. Yea the sound of the F-5 is different, it will catch you by surprise at first, but it delivers. Its almost sounds like a professional baseball player hitting a basebal with a wood bat. I didnt notice the sound of the PING very much, had a high pitch titanium sound.

I probably have low standards. So do guys like Hunter Mahan I suppose.

its all opinion. Some people think the standard shaft and the g10 is a great match.

Said the guy playing TM Burners and PING raptures - LOL.

the raptures were cheap, availaible and easy to hit. =D before them i was playing traduitonal forged lynx master model blades. and i could hit them. but required sme real consistency. however, if i could put better and improve my sand saves , i would be a single digit capper. the only thing i cant seem to do is hit low shots with my short irons.

Burners are forgiving and workable. =D

07 Burner regular flex. (my dads-doing wonders with it) :D

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
