I remember in the mid and late 90s, TGC aired a ton of college golf tournaments. What happened? Did the conference networks or some college cable channel buy out the rights. I really miss watching college golf on TV.

I just made a post in the "LPGA is a joke" thread that hinted at the same thing. I'd rather watch top amateurs than third tier pros.

Basically anything other than true amateur golf. They do show the college finals once a year in an abbreviated format

I had some intrest in the NCAA womens championship, and this was broadcasted by cstv.com via internet stream (it seems to belong to cbs - some sports/events are free, for others you have to pay) - other college sports are broadcasted the same way - but donts ask about quality - its horrid....

The Pac10 championship broadcast was even worse - 2 webcams on the 10th tee (Teebox and middle fairway) - LOL.

I havent been around in the late 90s to judge the quality of the broadcast, but i assume it was about the same, as when TGC broadcast Mens/womens amateur US Open, which is actually viewable.

Here where I live, we get The Big Ten Network and they have been showing the recent Big 10 Championships this week.

that is what I suspected. The conferences are making $$ with their media networks.
