I'm getting attacked. Yesterday was the first time this year that the Red Winged Blackbirds ganged up on me and if it's like other years will continue through June. They build their nests in marshy areas and are very defensive if you wander too close. If you've never experienced a couple male Blackbirds defending their territory, they swoop down from behind (they won't do it if you're looking at them) and make a noise like really loud radio static. They are very good at the sneak attack and it always scares the shit out of me.

If you ride a cart, you won't notice (along with a myriad of other things) since you fly by too fast to be a threat. But for us walkers, they are a bane to a nice walk in the grass.

I remember playing in Oklahoma a long time ago and they had a problem with a large type of bird with sharp claws attacking the golfers. Some were actually drawing blood. The fix was to walk around with your driver held up over your head and that would take the brunt of the attack.

So, do any of you have wildlife that comes after you on the course? Cart girls don't count.

Whoever came up with the saying, "A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work", is a moron.

Bees.

Seriously. EVERYTIME I go out I have at least one bee on me constantly and no one else in our group has any issues. I don't wear bright colors, but they are always on my case......halfway through a swing I'll have a bee in my face.

It's becoming a joke.

EDIT: Maybe it's my Slingshots and the green and black? My Nickent has the same colors too.....hmmmm I also use yellow and black Golf Pride grips....

Cologne?

When I was in junior high we'd eat lunch outside. The seagulls would always congregate for handouts. Poor, Rick Crofts would always get shit on. I think he took "shrapnel" four or five times that school year. It got to be pretty comical.

I've never been attacked because I know enough about Canadian Geese attacks to leave them alone. Those suckers will break your arm with their super beak attack. Yesterday there were two greens that had a family of geese on them, so instead of driving the short par three, I just dropped my ball on the fringe and counted that as one shot.

There used to be bees around but not anymore.

Earlier in the year the swans has their chicks(or whatever you call a baby swan) and were very protective....
One day I hit a shot within 6 feet of one of them, and the swan came over to me wings out and hissing. I've heard they can break an arm so that pro V1 stayed by the lake.....

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
